Michelle Borycki Qualifies for IHSA State Meet! Wolves Race to a 7th Place Sectional Finish!
The Oswego East Wolves had a great performance at the Hinsdale Central Sectional Meet at Kathryn Legge Memorial Park! The team was led by senior Michelle Borycki, who grabbed the final individual state qualifying spot with her 23rd place finish. Borycki posted a season best time of 18:25 in her efforts. She becomes only the second Oswego East athlete to qualify for the IHSA State Meet in the school's history.
While a 7th place finish may seem unfortunate, the Wolves certainly did not disappoint in their efforts. The first six runners all ran personal records, despite a sloppy and soft course. Borycki was followed closely by sophomore Abby Cain, who narrowly missed a state berth herself, finishing in 30th place in 18:35. Freshman Alexis Henz was next, with her PR of 18:46 and 38th place finish. Junior Hannah Baur ran 18:59 to finish in 47th. Senior Mollie Karasch completed the course in 19:07, taking 54th place. Senior Mari McDowell completed her season with a 19:39 in 76th place, and freshman Mirabelle Skipworth finished 92nd in 20:14.
Borycki will continue her season on November 9 at the historic Detweiller Park.
Great job, ladies! We are so proud of you!
